Mobile Crane
Equipment covered by Equipment Inspection & Pre-Operational Check Training.
Mobile Crane overview
Mobile cranes combine a road vehicle with a powerful lifting machine, so a defect in either can put the whole lift at risk. This part of the program shows participants how to carry out a structured pre-operational check of a mobile crane and decide whether it is fit to work.Inspection & pre-operational training topics
- Walk-around check of the carrier, tyres and chassis
- Boom, jib and boom sections – visible damage, cracks and deformation
- Hoist rope, hook block, hook and safety latch
- Outriggers, pads and ground conditions
- Load moment indicator, limit switches and alarms
- Fluid levels and hydraulic leaks
- Recording the check and reporting defects
